Machete Carrier Charged and Remanded Officers from Westminster NPT conducting proactive patrols have secured the arrest, charge and remand of a male found carrying a large machete following a fail-to-stop incident. At approximately 2005hrs on 15 October 2026, officers engaged with a male seated on a moped on Bourne Terrace, W2. When instructed to switch off the engine, he accelerated away from officers and failed to stop for a marked police SOLO officer. The rider mounted the pavement and attempted to enter a narrow canal footpath, posing a significant risk to the public, before falling from the moped and being detained after a brief struggle. During his arrest, the male disclosed that he was carrying a knife. A search subsequently recovered a machete, the blade being approximately 50cm in length, concealed in a sheath on his person. He later admitted he had attempted to reach the canal to dispose of the weapon before being detained. The successful arrest highlights the effectiveness of proactive policing in disrupting criminality, tackling violence and removing dangerous weapons from London's streets. Excellent work by all officers involved.🚔 | ||
